Debut blog post

Thanks for visiting the SBA Blog! Your SBA Board figured this would be a fun and different way to keep law students posted on what's going around on and off campus. It can even be interactive if you care to comment on any of the posts. So check in often, and even feel free to subscribe to stay up-to-date on new posts. This will be a forum where SBA Board members will be able to post entries about school issues, events, or anything else that's on their minds.

I would encourage all law students to attend the live summary judgment arguments on campus this Tuesday, November 17th at 5pm in Room 283. This will be an actual summary judgment argument in the case of URI Student Senate v. City of Narragansett, presided over by US District Court Judge William E. Smith, and proper courtroom decorum will be observed. The attorneys will be available for discussion after the arguments.

So this weekend my brother was home from college to celebrate his 21st birthday. I gave him a pretty unique gift, and I figured it would be something that law students might be interested in as a cool activity and a different sort of stress-reliever. I took him to the Peacedale Shooting Preserve in Peacedale, RI (near URI) to shoot clay pigeons. You can get everything you need right there, including a shotgun, shells, clay targets and , most importantly, safety training. Here's their web site: http://www.peacedalesportingclays.com/ (they're open throughout December)

That's all for me. Be sure to check back often for updates from various SBA Board Members!
